Amazing staff and incredible location for bus and tours!
Amenities:
Last minute booking here and they were so accommodating and brought breakfast to our room—so sweet! They even let us keep our luggage their all day while we went to see the Pope Audience!
Safe:
Felt so safe here!
Cutest little suite!
Airbnb—
Domus Rotundae Pantheon— entire home/ apartment
Location:
Airbnb place—The BEST location in Rome! We were literally in the middle of everything and were able to grab a snack or drinks right as we stepped out of our place. Looking at the picture of the Pantheon—our front door was literally next to this extraordinary piece of art! It’s the big wooden door. Restaurants were nearby, the best cafés were nearby and there were bus stops pretty near as well—like ¼ a mile!
Amenities:
The place was cute—but small. It was perfect for my husband and me. It had a lower floor with the kitchen and then immediately led you upstairs to the bedroom. This is where the restroom was (clean and cute), and it had a comfy sofa to relax on too. There was shampoo and body wash, toilet paper and kitchen basic needs.
Safe:
We felt SO safe here! The Pantheon is monitored by security and military 24/7, so we literally had no problem with our location and always felt safe!
City Tips:
Wear COMFORTABLE shoes! This is so so important! Rome is a city of travel, and most travel and exploring is done by foot. I highly don’t recommend taking the buses unless it’s really far. The bus schedules are NEVER on time and sometimes don’t come at all. We learned our lesson real quick after buying the 72 hour pass. It was nice to have to take us to the train stations though since we had a lot of luggage to carry around. The weather was amazing in early-mid October. I wore shorts and a lot of tanks and dresses—light sweaters. Their temperature from day to night is not as drastic as the United States.
Tours:
Rome Segway Night Tour – So the hubs and I have learned for short trips it is best to do a Segway Tour on your first day. Reason being is that you get to see all the big and most important features of each city. We love night tours and lovedddd this tour in Rome, since during the day there are too many people walking around and it makes riding Segway’s kind of hard. So once you are done with your tour, jot down places you really want to explore and go back and spend more time there! Full disclosure, Segway tours are fun, but do go by really fast since you are on moving machine but that’s why it’s fun! You don’t tire yourself out and you get to see what you really want to go back and do!
Coliseum—my husband loves the movie Gladiator—fun fact: While we were in Amalfi, right before Rome, he made me watch Gladiator before going to Rome and it was the coolest movie ever! I couldn’t believe that I had never seen it before— this made the experience at the Coliseum that much better! So if you haven’t seen it, go see it!!
So back to the tour that we did, there are a million to choose from—we decided to do the exclusive Gladiator entrance tour with the skip the line deal. It was a little pricier but boy o’ boy was it so much fun! Being down there on the floor was an incredible feeling and looking up at the stands—mesmerizing and really takes you back to the history behind it all.
Vatican— we did the St. Peter’s Basilica (Catacomb access) and Vatican ½ day tour with skip the line access. Best decision on skipping the line. The lines there are sooo long. Save yourself and pay the extra $$. We are practicing Catholic’s and this tour was my choice! I have always dreamed of visiting this incredible place and boy, was I not disappointed. This really could be a whole day tour! The history and the art is mesmerizing and something I will never, ever forget. I still want to go back!
ALL the tours were incredible and SO worth the money. The tour guides are so smart and know so much about the history—it’s different learning it from someone who is so proud of their culture. We were blessed with amazing tour guides!
